HGTV Explains the Importance of a Home Inspection

Image
A home inspection is not only a good idea from a financial standpoint (as it can help you fix problems before you sell your home), it's also a good idea from a safety perspective, as well. After all, you don't want to move into a house that is falling apart. HGTV aired a program about the biggest real estate mistakes you can make, and coming in at #5 was "Not Getting a Professional Home Inspection." We've embedded the video below for your viewing pleasure.

Home inspectors can come across some very strange things while looking around homes, from questionable construction decisions to other quirky, out-of-place sights. We showed you some strange home inspection images in the past, and now it's time for more. Here are a few more images collected from home inspectors around the country. Definitely not something you want to find while inspecting a dark crawlspace. This bird seems to enjoy the view. This frog got a little too close to the power line. Another animal meets its end. Electronic Radon Testing

Image
In addition to our home inspection services, AmeriSpec also offers electronic radon testing . Radon is a radioactive gas that, in certain doses, is known to cause cancer. One of the most difficult things about radon detection is the fact that you can't see radon in the air. You can't smell it or taste it, either. But this doesn't mean the gas isn't present in your home. That's why it's important to test for it. AmeriSpec uses electronic radon detectors to test areas of your home and get radon reading levels. If levels are 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher, something will need to be taken care of inside your home to get the levels down to an acceptable range. Don't take a chance with radon. Contact AmeriSpec to schedule your home radon test today at (952) 854-5110.

Home Inspections Can Help Improve Home Value

Image
A post by Freshome , an interior design & architecture blog, takes a look at ten different ways to improve your home's value before you put it on the market. We were happy to find home inspections made it onto the list. 9.) Get a Home Inspection: A home inspector can point out unforeseen issues that you never would have found. Issues like roofing, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, and electrical need to be addressed before an offer is made on your home. Remember, a potential buyer can walk away from their offer if your home fails a quality home inspection. We're in absolute agreement that a home inspection can improve your home's value. If your home passes with flying colors, it gives a potential buyer the peace of mind they might need to move forward with a purchase. If any deficiencies are discovered, it allows you time to make the necessary repairs before you put your home up for sale. AmeriSpec proudly serves the Twin Cities region of Minnesota with home i...

Strange Home Inspection Sights

The job of a home inspector can have its exciting/scary moments, too. Some of our home inspection colleagues from around the country have encountered interesting, awkward, and sometimes dangerous situations while on duty, and they've been summed up in an article by This Old House called " Home Inspection Nightmares X ." Here are a few. This 12-inch roof rat decided to make an appearance when home inspector Brandon Dyles of Tennessee opened an attic door.   PA home inspector Joe Randazzo discovered an HVAC duct being supported by, yes, a piece of luggage with a brick on top. Something tells us the luggage and brick did not come with the system. An 8-foot boa constrictor guards this sub panel that Rick Hall of Connecticut had to access during a home inspection. Our Customers Speak for Themselves

We recently gathered up some of the latest reviews our home inspection customers have given us, and we thought it would be nice to share them with you here. "Arrived on time and was very thorough and kind throughout the process. He answered all of my questions with great detail and professionalism. I would definitely recommend AmeriSpec to a friend in need of an efficient and helpful inspector. After the inspection, I was provided with detailed specs of the inspection and, to my surprise, they even provided a complimentary home repair manual which includes everything from plumbing to painting and everything in between. Also included are some coupons for typical expenses you encounter with every move." -Jeremy M. "Kevin - our inspector - was early to begin with, and he was thorough in his inspection of all aspects of the house. He provided personal feedback from his experiences with houses and gave well calculated ideas on potential updates/fixes for various aspects...

AmeriSpec at the REMAX Day of Distinction

Image
Earlier last month, we set up a booth at the RE/MAX Day of Distinction, an event that took place at the St. Paul RiverCentre on February 9. We were thrilled at the opportunity to answer questions from those present, and chat with realtors and other home industry professionals. We even managed to snap a few pictures along the way. This first photo is of Kevin manning our booth, and interacting with attendees. Here's another photo, featuring Kevin and legendary NFL quarterback Joe Theismann, who was the keynote speaker at the event. We enjoyed our time at the Day of Distinction event, and want to thank all of the attendees who stopped by the booth to say hi or chat about the home inspection services we provide. It was great to meet all of you!
